Trend: Oversized Winter Coats

So the current new trend for this upcoming winter season appears to be oversized winter coats. I love this trend because why wouldn’t I want more fabric to keep me warm on those cold nights in Blacksburg? The more the better I say! Many designers have been featuring oversized winter jackets on the runway lately, so I’m sure they will be popping up in stores soon, just in time for that cold, wintry weather!

Fall Trends: Celebrity Inspiration

So in case you haven’t noticed fall is in full swing now. The leaves are falling, temperatures are dropping, and it’s time to layer up with some great fall fashion! Rachel Bilson’s outfit below is a perfect example of the “layered look” as she struts her stuff in a casual gray tee covered by a lovely black shoulder blazer. I am loving her clog shoes as well to complete the look. She looks very casual and comfy with a hint of sophistication and embodies the fall look I wish to have as I’m sure many of you do as well!

Fall Trends: Flared Skirts

Tea-length flared skirts seem to be all the rage this fall season. Many celebrities and designers have been spotted wearing these or variations of the design to fashion weeks in Europe and New York. I do like the long skirts for fall, but I’m not so sure I’m loving the way it flares out. It is very retro; reminds me of the 50’s poodle skirts. But fashion does certainly go in a cycle so maybe I’ll find myself wearing one by the end of the fall season, who knows!

Inspiring Fall Fashion

In case you live under a rock or haven’t stepped outside this week, it’s getting chilly outside. The leaves are falling, warm weather has disappeared, and fall is definitely here. But even though we have to start bundling up, that’s no reason not to look cute. Many celebs have been sporting different fall trends lately but I came across Kristin Cavallari’s look and absolutely loved it! Very simple, yet stylish at the same time. And not to mention the Allure boots are to die for!

Not your Grandma’s Quilt

Quilting isn’t just for your grandma, but it is the best way to warm up as the weather gets colder! Not only are quilted fabrics super comfy for Fall, but they’ve been huge on the runway this season! Designers like Burberry, Thom Browne, J. Mendel, and Michael Kors all have followed suit with the quilted trend.  What I love about the quilted fabrics this season is that the trend is mostly seen in outerwear, especially leather (my personal favorite trend for Fall), like the Christioper Kane jacket below! The hard leather and soft quilting contrast for the perfect edgy and feminine look that you can dress up or down.

TREND: Leather Weather

I know what you’re thinking…Leather…in the Spring and Summer? YES. With the temperatures heating up in loom of the quickly approaching summer, leather is becoming a hot trend.  Designers like Alexander Wang (From left), Proenza Schouler, and Sally LaPointe showcased the style on their runways this year.  Whether it’s leather shorts, skirts, vests, or jackets there are multiple ways to wear the trend! Try going for separates like a leather crop top or peplum skirt or top that you can mix and match with several outfit options. Not to mention, layering pieces like leather vests or jackets will transition nicely into a fall wardrobe when weather!
