Hello stateside friends!
I have been enjoying London very much and wanted to let you know some of the fashion I have been taking notice of while I have been here the past week. A lot of the things I have noticed that are very popular are very similar to those things we wear in the States.
Leather coat (North Faces, Patagonia’s, etc. are not worn here)
Skull Scarf (I’m actually wearing one right now. You see these on EVERYONE here.)
Sock buns (they are perfect for keeping your hair in check here in the constantly rainy/windy weather)

One of this summer’s biggest trends that is continuing on into the fall season is the Peter Pan collar. It is super chic and even though it is conservative, it is very feminine. You will see this trend on everything- dresses, tanks, blouses, and even sweaters.

Target and Neiman Marcus have just announced a collaboration for this holiday season. They have chosen to sell the collab clothes, accessories, and shoes in BOTH stores. This team up will include items from 24 designers. Some of the most notable designers are Carolina Herrara, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, and Tory Burch according to Women’s Wear Daily. The collection will be in stores on December 1, 2012. The items will range from $7.99 to $499.99 but most are reported to being less than $60.
Time will only tell how these sales will do. I have a feeling they will do great in the Target locations and badly in the Neiman Marcus locations. If someone is going to Neiman Marcus why would they buy something that is made for Target, they would just go to Target if they wanted that. I am hoping that all of the cheaper things will still be amazingly chic and trendy, and I have a feeling they will be. I cannot imagine who is willing to buy clothing from Target that is $499.99 but we will see.

As Olympic trials are in full swing and the TV is already filled with Olympic and Team USA themed commercials, the United States is a buzz with Olympic fever. Nike has finally released the 2012 London Olympics track and field uniforms for Team USA. This year the team will be rocking a stunning red with USA in navy on the chest. There will be some white detailing as well. This is a bold move for The United States playing off of only one of their three colors. America will also be blending in with the color of one of it’s main competitors – China. The bright color will not only pop for onlookers in the stands but will be good for TV viewers to keep an eye on their favorite athletes.

After spending all of last week obsessing over the Diamond Jubilee and watching the royals every move, who else would be my celebrity inspiration but Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge! Although Kate’s fashion is often only spotlighted for her dressy events in floor length gowns and heels, there are plenty of great casual summer outfits that we can all take from.
Kate can be seen rocking some of this summers hottest trends, like coral colored jeans!
Want to rock this hot trend like Kate? Here are some cute and affordable coral denim options:
Lulus.com offers the “Quiksilver Echo Beats Coral Jeans” for $49.
The “Paris Blues Colored Skinny Jeans” in coral are available at alloy.com for $29.50
The originally British company, Dorothy Perkins, offers clothes to the US through their website. Us.dorothyperkins.com has the “coral skinny jean” for $35.

Today marked the final day of the Diamond Jubilee. Sadly, the Queen’s husband, Prince Phillip, could not attend due to be hospitalized for a bladder infection. Although he was missed, and rain threatened onlookers, the events went on as planned. Planes soared over Buckingham Palace shooting out streams of blue and red smoke. The Queen even concluded the festivities with a two minute address to the nation, which is rare for her.
Kate wore a cream colored lace overlay dress. She accompanied it with a cream colored hat that had a small veil and a rather large flower on top. She wore the same nude L.K. Bennett pumps she wore on the second day of the Jubilee.
The Queen wore a robin egg’s blue colored matching dress coat and hat. They were both encrusted with embellishments. She added her signature gloves to finish off the look.
