Next year’s New York Fashion Week will begin September 13th due to the date of Labor Day. Italian design houses are worried that this will push back their dates and will not give the designers enough time to produce good shows. If the Italian designers change their dates, then their fashion week will begin during New York Fashion Week and last through London Fashion Week.
However, those over at Conde Nast are not very happy. Vogue editors promise to not show up to the Milan shows if the Italian designers decide to change their dates. The International Chairman of Conde Nast, Jonathan Newhouse, even wrote a letter to the Italian Chamber of Fashion expressing his feelings of the situation. In the letter he states that “They will not under any circumstances abandon the London or New York shows if the Milan shows are moved earlier…” (WWD.com). We’ll have to wait and see who will win this battle.
