Carine Roitfeld, the ex-editor-in-chief of French Vogue, has confirmed the rumors swirling in the fashion world of the launch of her own personal magazine, set to premier next September. This fabulous frenchwoman has sparked an uproar for fashion industry insiders, who expected something tumultuous to be in the works when she left her post at French Vogue last December after 10 years of being the editor-in-chief. Roitfeld’s magazine will be published four times per year in English, apparently much to Vogue’s dismay. Roitfeld candidly spoke with French bloggers about the drama, remarking that “I don’t think [Vogue] is too keen about seeing me launch a magazine. It won’t be easy for me to launch it independently but I still have friends who are ready to support me.”
This fashion drama is so juicy and Devil Wears Prada-esque, and I for one cannot wait to see what will conspire closer to the date of the magazine’s publication. If the magazine has any of the French je ne sais quoi that is present in the chic and beautiful Carine, I believe it will fare very well indeed. Regardless, Roitfeld is certainly one to watch for all you fashion divas – with a self-titled book in the works, a guest editorship at V magazine, and the new face of Barney’s ad campaigns – Carine is certainly making the fashion world turn on their Christian Louboutin platforms and crane their well-coiffed heads to take notice.
