Rumors have been swirling for quite some time about who will be John Galliano’s successor at Dior. Several different designers that had been mentioned previously, such as Haider Ackermann, Marc Jacobs, and Riccardo Tisci from Givenchy are now out of the running. Ackermann was deemed to be too edgy for Dior, Jacobs is still tied to Louis Vuitton, and Tisci straight-out refused the offer.
Now the drama continues, as vogue.co.uk reports that Alexander Wang may be next on Dior’s list. Wang’s most recent collection received positive reviews at New York Fashion Week earlier in September, and he has been successful since his start in 2007. Wang’s line is made up of mostly sportswear and streetwear, which isn’t exactly couture material, so it will be interesting to see how this develops. The fashion world will just have to keep hoping that a decision will be made soon.
