Vogue Japan Sparks Controversy with Crystal Renn Photoshoot

Vogue Japan taped model Crystal Renn’s eyes back in an editorial for the October 2011 issue, in what seems to be an attempt to mimic the shape of Asian eyes.  The magazine, under the control of editor Anna Dello Russo, has also released a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot that includes footage of makeup artists taping back the model’s eyes.

Dailymail.co.uk reports “it’s not clear whether Ms. Dello Russo is attempting to ingratiate Ms. Renn with Asian readers or simply achieve a different look for the shoot, but the cosmetic act of stretching the eyes is sure to raise questions about the magazine’s possibly misjudged motives.”
