The company that is the pinnacle of all things denim wear will begin a new journey into women’s sportswear. Next spring the denim brand will begin offering over 140 sportswear pieces with prices between $200 and$1,500, reports WWD.com. The collection, which has a very minimalistic and clean look, will feature colors such as white, black, lilac, peach, and grey.
Why start sportswear? The chief executive officer Jeff Rudes stated that “We don’t want to put ourselves out there as [just] a jean brand”(wwd.com). Besides that, rivals of the brands, such as Seven For All Mankind and True Religion, have sportswear collections. J Brand will also be adding more product expansions by 2013. These expansions include shoes, handbags, and possibly a men’s sportswear line.
