Michelle Kessler Sanders, who has been the fashion director for T: The New York Times Style Magazine since last summer, has moved on. Sanders was just announced as the first creative director at Vera Wang. Sanders will leave her job at T in about two weeks and then shift her focus to supervising product development for four internal divisions of Vera Wang and twelve licensees.
Vera Wang has been expanding its horizons recently with a potential cosmetics line with Estée Lauder in production and a popular bridal collection for David’s Bridal. Of course there’s still the high-end Vera Wang collection, plus the less expensive Simply Vera Vera Wang collection for Kohl’s.
In addition, the company has home products, mattresses, stationary, and accessories for sale. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the position of creative director is finally being implemented for the first time in the brand’s 21-year history.
In other Vera Wang news, Leighton Meester has been signed to a two-year contract to be the face of a new fragrance for the company, and there are rumors of Wang also wanting to delve into menswear design.
