The honorees and nominees for the annual CFDA Fashion Awards have been named. CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg and the CFDA executive director Steven Kolb announced the 2011 contenders Wednesday night in von Furstenberg’s studio. The winners will be revealed at Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center on June 6th. The majority of the nominees are under forty, enabling the recognition of young designers and their talents. Swarovski is funding the event for the tenth year in a row.
The honorees and nominees are as follows:
Womenswear Designer of the Year: Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, and Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler.
Menswear Designer of the Year: Michael Bastian, Patrick Ervell, and Simon Spurr.
Accessory Designer of the Year: Alexander Wang, Reed Krakoff, and Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler.
Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Prabal Gurung, Joseph Altuzarra, and Ashey Olsen & Mary-Kate Olsen.
Swarovski Award for Menswear: Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, and Robert Geller.
Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Alejandro Ingelmo, Eddie Borgo, Jason Wu, and Pamela Love.
Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award: Marc Jacobs.
CFDA Board of Directors Special Tribute: Arthur Elgort
Fashion Icon Award: Lady Gaga
The Founders Award, in honor of Eleanor Lambert: InStyle‘s Hal Rubenstein
Media Award, in honor of Eugenia Sheppard: The Daily Telegraph‘s Hilary Alexander
