Currently companies are not required to divulge this knowledge. It is estimated that over 13 percent of items sold in the U.S fall into this “unlabeled” category. This is a controversial issue for all companies and consumers.
“Many consumers prefer to avoid buying and wearing animal fur, and everyone deserves to have accurate information to make informed purchasing choices,” said Michael Markarian, chief operating officer for the Humane Society. This law has received bi-partisan support in the House and from the Senate.
