Balenciaga Exhibit to Open in New York

Conceived by Oscar de la Renta, an exhibit displaying Cristobal Balenciaga’s work will be at the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute in New York.  The exhibit Balenciaga: Spanish Master, curated by Hamish Bowles, will be running from November 19th, 2010 to February 19th, 2011.

Light flamenco music, from Baleciaga’s native Spain, plays in the background as you travel to look at 70 dresses from the 1930s all the way to the 1960s when it is evident of his mastery of his craft.

This exhibit will remind the world of the man who, upon his passing in 1972, Coco Chanel called “the only couturier”  and WWD declared “The king is dead!”  This is the perfect exhibit for any fashionista to visit.
